Supplier Spotlight - Planned by Page

As Planned by Page celebrates its 5th birthday, we thought it was the perfect time to shine a spotlight on its founder, Jess. Join us as we dive into her journey, the evolution of her services, and some memorable moments from the past five years.

1.    What has been the most rewarding part of your journey over the past five years?

I have been a part of SO many incredible love stories for couples. Watching their faces as they walk down the aisle, seeing their vision come to life, dancing together for the first time as a married couple. I love being witness to so much joy.

I am also so grateful for what this job has given me in my purpose and career to set a great example to my kids that women are strong, passionate and hard workers.

2.    What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced, and how did you overcome them?

My biggest challenge has been the juggle of being a mum to 3 amazing kids and wanting to work full time in a job I love so much. Having to find the balance of mum life and work life; I want to be doing both, all the time lol.

3.    How have your services evolved since you first started?

My pricing, inclusions and even the services I offer have all expanded and grown since I initially started. I have listened to what my clients are needing and how best to support them and feel I have now found the perfect combination of packages and inclusions.

4.    Can you share your most memorable wedding story?

I don’t think I have one stand out moment as every single wedding has moments that I cherish. From flooding venues to heat waves, to limo break downs, missing cakes and even an ambulance being called for Nana. Weddings can be a wild ride! But I’m here for it all!

5.    How has your team grown and changed over the years?

I have had the immense pleasure of having staff and assistants through the years. I’ve been able to train, mentor and guide some and even watch them begin their own careers. It’s always great being a part of a team and having the support but ultimately this is my job and the best team is the wedding community I work in and their continued support.

6.    Where do you see Planned by Page in the next five years?

I love my job. I can’t imagine me doing anything else but I love the idea of expanding. Maybe into other events, maybe more mentoring and education. Maybe expanding into a massive team! I’m not sure yet but I am here for it!

7.    Have you seen the wedding planning industry change since you started, and how have you adapted?

Yes absolutely. I’ve been here thru covid, La Niña, current financial restraints which have all lead to different weddings from what the couples had initially imagined. The biggest shift though, is doing what the couples want. Focusing on what’s important to them. Creating a wedding reflective of their relationship. Whether it’s a micro wedding on a stunning property or 300 guests in a barn venue, couples are highlighting personal touches and emphasising what’s important to them.

8.    What advice would you give to someone starting their own wedding planning business?

This is such a rewarding job, but it does take hard work and isn’t something that happens overnight. Learn what you can from your community - networking is important. Start small and grow as your business grows.

9. Can you share a funny or unexpected moment from a wedding you planned?

I recently coordinated a property wedding. It had rained torrentially for 2 weeks prior and even on the day it wasn’t letting up. A bunch of us got bogged at the church and then again at the property. The father of the groom spent so much of the day towing cars out, everyone were champions and we all just rolled with the day and the wild weather!

10. What’s your go-to playlist or song when you need to get into the zone?

My fav pump up song is Domino by Jessie J. I always play it just before I start the wedding day shift.

11. How are you planning to celebrate Planned by Page’s 5th birthday?

I have organised a local wedding vendor industry night! A new local venue, local food vendors, local music talents. A night for everyone to celebrate their own achievements and milestones! I can’t wait to have a dance and a night out where we are not working but celebrating with our colleagues.

12. What’s one small detail in wedding planning that you absolutely love?

I love bringing together their Runsheet. Making all the pieces of their day fit together cohesively. On the actual day, lighting the candles is like the calm before the reception storm and I thoroughly enjoy this bit of the day.

13. Are there any current trends you’re particularly excited about or ones you wish would go away?

I love the weekend long, micro weddings. I book them a stunning property, get some lush florals and a private chef. Maybe a live musician and let the good memories flow. These are my fav weddings at the moment. A live artist is also a “trend” I’m loving at the moment!

14. What do you hope your clients remember most about their experience with Planned by Page?

I hope they loved their entire client experience. From their initial enquiry to after their wedding day that I was approachable, knowledgeable and a friend they didn’t know they needed but are glad they found.  I hope I made them all feel special and their wedding all the more enjoyable and magical because they had me.

15. What is something you’d like potential clients to know?

There’s a big difference in the roles from venue manager to wedding planner and on the day coordinator. They all have their place but knowing what you need on the day to support your wedding day can be crucial. Any investment into making your day the best it can be with any help, is a must do!

We hope you enjoyed this glimpse into Jess's journey with Planned by Page. To mark this special milestone, we're excited to invite wedding vendors to her 5th Birthday Industry Night—an evening dedicated not only to celebrating Planned by Page but also to honouring all our industry wins. Join us for a night of festivities, inspiration and community. Click here to RSVP and learn more about the event.
